Here a few comments from parents and children regarding home learning in lockdown.

What have been the strengths of the remote learning for your child in the current lockdown?

  • My daughter settles down to work better when online class is on.
  • Having visual contact with her teachers and classmates. Providing structure to the day, but also allowing  for some flexibility when needed.
  • Knowing what are her strengths
  • They do well with a structure to the days and weeks. It’s great to interact with staff and friends. Also doing a blend of online and offline to help manage all the 5 workloads in the household is good. Having the power maths books to work on together is great.
  • I think for us the best thing is the consistency still being able to be taught how they would be at school and maintaining some routine during this difficult time. Seeing friends and teachers is also a big positive.
  • Continuity of learning has been excellent.
  • Familiarity of seeing a teacher daily has been really useful.
  • Consistency on what is being taught e.g maths at 9am and literacy at 10:45 has been helpful especially considering two teachers are delivering material.
  • Good level of feedback from work uploaded, however, this must be extremely time consuming and as a parent I feel it’s not necessary and a few specific comments to the child at the end of the week would be more than sufficient.
  • Connection to teacher show work and feed back and teacher does some work with them ie power maths
  • The fact that there is structure throughout the day, and seeing their teacher makes them feel they are still at school.
  • Children have opportunity to see each other during teams.  Structure of day. Great understanding from KS1 team that we may not able to join every meeting. Nice balance between active sessions and more formal sessions.
  • The teachers are amazing
