Our Nursery & How to Apply

Welcome to our Nursery at St Benedict’s Catholic Primary School, Garforth, where children are supported to settle happily, grow in confidence and develop a love of learning from the very start.

Our Nursery is open to families across Garforth and nearby communities, such as Aberford, Swillington, Ledsham and Micklefield. We have places available now for children who are 3 years old to start straight away. Why not plan ahead? You can apply ahead of time to secure your child’s place in our wonderful Nursery.

Expert-led teaching: setting strong foundations

Our experienced Early Years team provides high-quality teaching and care, helping children develop communication, confidence, independence and early learning skills that form strong foundations for future success.

We work closely with families and offer on-site Breakfast Club and Outstanding after-school care with Stepping Stones, including safe daily collection from school.

We support children to become confident, capable learners, developing routines, resilience and independence that help ensure a smooth transition into Reception within our school community.

We Offer

  • Funded childcare places (15 and 30 hours, subject to eligibility – see Funding below for more details).
  • Breakfast Club to support early drop-offs and working families.
  • After-school provision with Stepping Stones Day Nursery & Out of School Club (see Wrap-Around Care below for more details).
  • Tapestry online learning journal supporting strong parent partnerships.
  • A daily warm, nutritious meal on site, plus snacks and milk (see School Meals below to check eligibility for a free meal).

We currently offer up to 30 hours term-time only provision at our Nursery.


For the 15 Universal Hours provision, sessions are offered at the beginning or end of the week as follows:

If your child is entitled to the extended entitlement, they may attend for 30 hours, Monday to Friday 9:00 – 15:00.

We also offer paid Nursery sessions, charged at £4.30 per hour.

We provide Breakfast Club and after-school provision for our pre-school children to support working families.


After-school care is provided by []. Their dedicated key workers collect children safely from school each day, offering high-quality care in a nurturing environment until parents are ready to collect their children.

If you require wrap-around care, please inform the school once you have applied.

Warm school lunches are available for pre-school children at a small cost, or children may bring a packed lunch.

Pre-school pupils are invited to wear the school uniform.
